I Draw Stick Figures

Of course, I tried drawing my own illustrations and my entire family sweetly advised me to consider hiring an illustrator. I definitely did not have $5,000-$10,000 to hire an illustrator so I was stuck. What am I going to do? Once again, research, research especially to the almighty Google . Finally, my awesome librarian suggested that I reach out to local college art students who are looking to build their portfolio. Genius! I contacted four colleges around me and did get some leads. The next thing you know, I’m interviewing a few art students. Here’s the hard part…how do I know I’m going to jibe with this stranger? How do I know this person is going to draw what’s in my mind? How am I going to be able to explain what my brain is imagining for each page? What if we argue? What if they quit halfway? Soooo many “what if’s?”...

Like so many other times throughout this journey, I prayed and gave it to God. This was going to be the decision to end my dream or make it real. If I made the wrong choice, it would be next to impossible to re-do the production of the book.
